Females of different species classified in Phlebotomus subgenus are distinguished from each other by different arrangement and shape of the pharyngeal teeth. P. duboscqi is distinguished from P. bergeroti by the absence of lateral and anterior teethe, from those of P. papatasi by the absence of teeth located at the front of the pharyngeal armature, and from those of P. salehi by the absence of coarse and condensed teeth located in one third middle of the pharyngeal armature.
